A little comparison of cars vs. bicycles:

Todd's website

Factoid: a human on a good tenspeed bike uses fewer calories per Km per Kg than any other species except certain soaring birds. Cars? Hmmpphh...they use so much energy, don't even talk about it...

Bikes don't pollute. Cars leave plumes of poisonous, foul-smelling gases.
You can make a short trip faster on a bike than by car. Drivers spend 1-2 hours per day earning money to pay for cars, to get there slower.
The human body needs exercise anyway. Bicycles provide some. Cars don't.
Bicycles are trivially cheap to make. Cars consume 30 to 100 times more resources to manufacture and to dump.
Bicycles require no petroleum. Cars needlessly waste gas and contribute to global warming.
Bicycles are nonviolent. People kill over oil. Most military costs and war casualties since 1950 are associated with fights over oil.
Bikes are reasonably safe. Cars are a lethal threat to anybody in their path, even when moving slowly. Deaths in U.S. 40,000 people/year.  http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
Bikes claim a pathway 50 cm wide, less than 5 meters ahead and adjustable within 100- 300 milliseconds. Cars waste space --requiring two meters width, many meters long, many seconds, and totally non-negotiable even when only one passenger.
Social consensus exists for bicycles similar to walkers. The rights of way for cars are ALWAYS protested, whenever there is a vote or hearing.

SO EXCUSE ME, CAR-BOY, IF I DON'T MOVE OVER FAST ENOUGH WHEN YOU BEEP.

The newspaper says, car people hate us bicycle riders... Some want us to pay money, others want us to obey laws written for cars.

I think they just hate our freedom.

But imagine how they would hate us, if our vehicles weighed 60,000 pounds, and we zoomed past them at 160 miles per hour, threatening everybody's lives. My bicycle, with my weight, are 1/10th the weight of the cars who pass me at 40 while I'm going 10.

Imagine how they would hate us, if we left a huge plume of poisonous fumes behind, that they had to breathe.

Imagine how they would hate us, if the rights of way were blocked by bicycles and the speed limit were 10mph, preventing the car people from going where they want to go instantly, at every whim.

In Closing: we don't need your pavement, your traffic lights, or your cars. Gravel paths will be fine. Your whole apparatus of freeways, streets, and cars is depriving US of fundamental right of way. Your apparatus is BLOCKING the right of way, and you should be paying compensation to bicyclists. Please, tear up the pavement, ban cars, and give us gravel paths.
